Medicaid Expansion - Dan Ramey

The purpose of the TennCare Expansion Implementation Work Group will be to study changes to the TennCare program outlined in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, clarify what options the state of Tennessee will have in determining expansion & enrollment, identify key decision-makers who will make decisions regarding TennCare expansion in Tennessee and effectively engage them by making recommendations on behalf of consumers. The initial strategy of this work group will be to become comfortable with information about Medicaid Expansion outlined in the PPACA and develop a list of individual legislators, state agencies and departments that will make decisions about implementing the TennCare Expansion, then approach representatives to meet with our work group during the decision-making process. 1. What the new law says about the work of your group? Specifically, what does it say about involvement of consumers?
2. What options the state has for implementing the new law?
3. Who on the state level is responsible for implementing the new law?
4. What the administration and/or legislators need to do to implement the new law?
5. What is the time frame for implementation?
6. How will the group engage the administration in a positive role?
7. What help does your group need from a national expert?
8. What is your groups plan for meeting with administration or legislature?
