THCC's Current Federal Policy Efforts

Posted 6/24/2011:

Do we solve our countries "debt" problem on the backs of poor seniors, disabled people, children and familes?

Below is a draft statement of THCC's position on cuts to Medicaid (TennCare):

"Controlling healthcare spending over the long run is critical in securing our country’s financial future. However, a narrow focus on just federal health spending is likely to cause serious harm to Medicare and Medicaid patients and their families, while placing tremendous financial pressure on states and providers. Such an approach fails to focus on the drivers of healthcare spending. Alternately, policies aimed directly at reducing clinically unnecessary or avoidable spending in public insurance programs; improving the health of each individual; aligning payments among the providers; improving administrative efficiency and increasing coverage across the board for patients can yield potentially powerful cost reductions at all levels of care."

It is important that you convey this message to your U.S. Memer of Congress and U.S. Senator. Click here for Talking Points. In regards to Medicaid, when Medicaid is connected to seniors, it polls as well as Medicare. Click here for the poll.. Below are possible actions that you can take:
